Chamonix is the original high mountain resort. The setting couldn’t be better. The tall mountain peaks surrounding Chamonix truly take your breath away; Europe's highest mountain rises up from the town centre for an impressive 4808 metres, culminating in the awe inspiring Mont Blanc. An elegant and traditional ski resort that has what can only be described as a cosmopolitan town centre, offering arguably the best range of attractions in an alpine town. You can ski all day then shop till you drop in a village which has everything from traditional Savoy fromageries to the ultra chic boutiques. There are over 120 bars and restaurants to choice from catering to every taste and pocket. Not to forget climbing mountaineering, sleigh rides and everything in-between. The Chamonix valley certainly offers some of the best skiing and accommodation in the Alps. The villages of Les Houches, Les Praz, Argentiere and Les Bossons within the valley are serviced by an efficient free bus service as well as a mountain train (with your lift pass).
