Val Thorens

Val Thorens is a compact, purpose built resort standing at 2300m the highest resort in Europe. Located at the top of the 3 Valleys its high altitude makes it snow sure and easy access to the rest of the ski area means that you have a huge terrain on your doorstep! The 3 Valleys consists of Meribel (the middle valley) and Courchevel (the far left valley) including many hamlets in between. Despite the resorts development through the 60’s it is not the eyesore it once. More and more attractive buildings have since been added to the landscape with more money earmarked for its restoration. There are plenty of improvements taking place including state of the art chairlifts and snow making machinery. The skiing in Val Thorens is some of the best in the world suiting all abilities from the nursery runs down to Saint Martin to the more advanced of Cime de Caron. A hidden gem of the resort is the 4th valley – Orelle. Situated in the far right hand corner of this enormous ski area Orelle is quiet but exposed and offers fantastic off piste. Surrounded by 6 glaciers, summer skiing is possible here running from the beginning of July to the end of August.
